Entrepreneurial Skills Training Needs of Business Education Graduates in Colleges of Education in Kogi State for Self-Reliance

Abstract
This study determined the entrepreneurial skills training needs of business education graduates in colleges of education in Kogi State for self-reliance. The study adopted survey research design. Three research questions and three null hypotheses were formulated for the study. The study was carried out in Kogi State Colleges of Education. The population for the study consists of 112 respondents who are graduates of the colleges of education. Since the population was manageable, there was no sampling. The instrument for data collection was structured questionnaire titled: Entrepreneurial Skills Training Needs of Business Education Graduates Questionnaires (ESTSNBEGQ) which was face validated by three experts from the Department of Business Education, University of Nigeria Nsukka. Cronbach Alpha reliability method was used to determine the internal consistency of the questionnaire. A reliability coefficient of 0.87 was obtained. Skills Need Index (SNI) was employed to analyse data for answering the research questions, while t-test statistic was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The result of the study revealed that business education graduates needed: creative thinking skills, interpersonal communication skills, and multimedia skills for self-reliance. It was concluded that there is need for entrepreneurial skills training in business education programme. It was recommended among others that government, through the national commission for colleges of education should set up special grants for regular training and retraining of business education graduates to equip them with self-reliance skills.

Lecturers' and Students' Perception of E-Assessment in Colleges of Education in Plateau State, Nigeria

Abstract
This study examined the lecturers' and students' perceptions of e-assessment in Colleges of Education in Plateau State, Nigeria. The researcher used a descriptive survey research design for the study. The study population consists of 707 lecturers and 16,700 students drawn from the Colleges of Education in Plateau State. Using a stratified sampling technique, this study used a sample size of 210 lecturers and 320 students selected from the population. The researcher used questionnaire as the instrument for data collection for the study. The questionnaire was validated by an expert and a reliability coefficient of .64 and .90 as a measure of internal consistency was obtained through Cranach Alpha. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26 was used to analyze the data, considering a mean score of 2.50 and above interpreted as high perception and a mean score of below 2.50 as low perception. Among the findings, lecturers were found to perceive e-assessment to be useful, with a grand mean value of 3.13 and a standard deviation of 0.89. The findings on the students' responses reveal that the students agreed on the usefulness of e-assessment in Colleges of Education in Plateau State, with a grand mean value of 2. 98 and a standard deviation of 0.88. Therefore, it is recommended that management and administrators of Colleges of Education provide an action plan such as making available hardware devices, software, internet connectivity with suitable bandwidth, qualified instructors, and appropriate tools and devices to back up data and records towards the implementation of the e-assessment system.

Level of e-Learning Resources Awareness among Teachers in Northeastern Nigeria

Abstract
This study investigates teachers' awareness of e-learning resources in Northeastern Nigeria. Cross Sectional Survey design was used for the study. The population of the study consisted of primary, secondary and tertiary teachers in the Northeastern Nigeria. The respondents of the study consisted of 224 primary school teachers, 454 secondary school teachers and 373 tertiary institutions teachers. A questionnaire with reliability of 0.874 was used for data collection. The questionnaire was earlier validated by three experts. A web -based survey created using Google form was sent to all the six states in the Northeastern Nigeria for elicit responses from the participants. The responses collected were analyzed using the descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings of the study revealed that teachers at all level of education in the Northeastern Nigeria were found to be partially aware of the e-learning resources. A significant difference between primary, secondary and tertiary teachers was found on their e-learning resources awareness. A Post Hoc test showed that the differences were between primary and tertiary teachers and secondary and tertiary teachers with tertiary teachers having more e-learning resources awareness compared to their primary and secondary counterparts. Also, t-test revealed a significant difference between male and female teachers in tertiary institution, with male having more e-learning resources awareness than their female counterparts. Based on the findings, it was recommended that Government should organize training, workshop, symposia and seminars in order to raise the level of e- learning awareness among teachers at all levels of education.

Awareness and Utilisation of Green Software Engineering Practices among Computer Education Students in Enugu State

Abstract
As society becomes increasingly conscious of environmental sustainability, there is a growing imperative to align software development practices with green principles. This study investigated the awareness and utilisation of green software engineering among computer education students. The study participants were 109 students selected using a total population sampling technique from the Department of Computer and Robotics Education, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State. They comprised 78 males and 31 females. Their ages ranged from 19 to 24 years (M = 21.13; SD = 2.31). Data was collected using the Awareness of Green Software Engineering Practice Questionnaire and the Utilisation of Green Software Engineering Practices Questionnaire. The data was analysed using means and standard deviations in SPSS version 25. The findings of the study revealed that computer and robotics education students are highly aware of green software engineering practices; however, green software engineering practices are hardly utilised by students. As the demand for energy-efficient technology continues to grow, the importance of green software engineering will only increase, making it an essential component of modern computer science education. Hence, the study's findings have implications for integrating green software engineering into the curriculum, providing faculty training, offering practical assignments, and leveraging industry partnerships to equip students with the skills necessary to develop sustainable software.

Introduction of Smart Theory-based Examinations STBES in the Nigerian Education Policy

Abstract
In Nigeria education system, theory-based questions are marked manually by different people from different background, perceptive, approaches and in different moods at the time of marking. The subjectivity of scoring, halo effects, examiner mood, extraneous elements like handwriting legibility and ink color, and incorrectly summing up scores are some of the other factors that impact the grading of theory problems. Furthermore, in the event that the test is not assessed anonymously, the score may also be influenced by the graders personal sentiments toward the student, the students sex or race, or teacher expectations regarding the caliber of the students work. Thus, a single exam that is externally given, graded, and has the potential to elevate or depress the student is all that stands between them and their destiny. Hence, in order to ameliorate the above mentioned problems, the study aims at testing the efficacy of a smart theory-based examinations system in the Nigerian education policy. The design for the study was Research and Development where automated system was developed for marking theory-based examination questions. The population of the study was 15 JSS 3 students that were used to test the validity and reliability of the developed system. It was discovered in the study that the STBES was effective and less time consuming and will help eliminate the possibility of guess work and lead to results that do not reflect the student’s actual proficiency in the course. Formulation of policies by government for the introduction of STBES for marking theory based examinations by examination bodies in Nigeria was therefore recommended.

Utilization of Internet of Things for Enhanced Teaching by Lecturers in Public Tertiary Institutions in Enugu State

Abstract
Rapid paradigm shift has been on-going in education of recent due to the utilization of innovative Technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT) which has transformed the educational landscape and hold potentials for improving teaching and learning processes. The IoT technologies are nowadays assumed to be one of the key pillars of the fourth industrial revolution due to its significant potentials in innovations and useful benefits both education and other spheres. However, there are arguments that utilization of IoT in tertiary institutions in developing countries is lagging. The study investigated the utilization of IoT by lecturers in four public tertiary institutions in Enugu State, Nigeria. Mixed-method research design consisting of both quantitative and qualitative approaches was adopted for the study. The population of this study was 65 Computer Science Education Lecturers from the institutions and census sampling was used. The study was guided by three research questions and the instruments for data collection were a structured questionnaire and digital phone recorder. Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.85 was established. Quantitative data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation while the qualitative data were analyzed according to the research questions. The results revealed that the level of utilization of IoT by lecturers in Public Tertiary Institutions in Enugu State was low. Also, there was a notable gap in awareness among the lecturers, with limited exposure to IoT technologies for educational purposes. However, lecturers' knowledge gap on the use of IoT, limited infrastructure, lack of training/skills and data privacy concerns were identified as the factors mitigating the utilization of IoT by Computer Education Lecturers.

Factors militating against the Computerization of School Records in Secondary Schools in Nsukka Education Zone

Abstract
The study sought to investigate the factors militating against the computerization of school records in secondary schools in the Nsukka education zone. Four research questions were posed to guide the study. The population of the study was 59 administrators in the 59 secondary schools in the Nsukka education zone. The sample of the study was 30 administrators in the three local government areas under the Nsukka education zone. A proportionate sampling technique was used to select 50% of administrators from the three local government areas. The study adopted a survey research design. The data collected from SRCQ was analyzed using Mean and Standard Deviation (SD). A criterion mean of 2.5 was adopted as the cut-off point for the item. Consequently, any item that has a mean value of 2.50 and above is required while any item below 2.50 is not required. The findings of the study revealed that funding, staff qualification, administrative and infrastructural/facilities factors militate against the computerization of school records in secondary schools and that the keeping of school records using computers can be achieved by the government supporting the school. The following recommendations were made to improve the record-keeping system in Nigerian Secondary Schools; adequate funding of ICT/computer centres of secondary schools. This will enable them to be well-equipped. Recruitment of qualified and dedicated IT personnel to work in schools as data and record-keeping personnel. Also, there is need for retraining of teachers and other school staff to acquire the basic skills and competencies in electronic spreadsheets management system.

Perceived impact of Social Media on Students' Behaviour in Secondary Schools in Agbani Education Zone

The study investigated the perceived impact of social media on the social behavior of secondary school students in Agbani Education Zone. Specifically, the study determined the areas of application of social media among students and its impact their social behaviour. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. 386 SSII students were selected from a population of 3860 SSII in secondary schools in the Agbani Education Zone. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire titled Application of Social Media Questionnaire (ASMQ). Three experts from the Department of Science and Computer Education, Faculty of Education, ESUT, validated the instrument. Cronbach alpha was used to determine the reliability coefficient and the reliability coefficient obtained was 0.69. Percentage score, mean, and standard deviation statistics were used to answer the research questions, while t-test statistics were used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 significance level. The findings show that students use social media for making new friends, conversing with friends and family members, sharing pictures and videos, entertaining themselves via watching movies, playing games, listening to songs, engaging in discussion with mates after school hours, seeking professional advice, political and sports news update. Social media have a negative impact on the students' social behaviour. Based on the findings, it was recommended that parents should stop giving students smartphones to limit access to the internet, as it distracts them from studying. Also, parents should monitor the kind of social media sites students participate in including their online friends so as to reduce these negative impacts on them.

Skill Needs of Computer Education Students in Preventing Cyber Insecurity and Unethical Hacking in the University of Nigeria Nsukka

Abstract
This study sought to determine the skill needs of computer education students in preventing cyber insecurity and unethical hacking at the University of Nigeria Nsukka. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design approach and the population for the study is 116 students of Computer and Robotics Education. A total sampling technique was used to select all the Computer and Robotics Education Students in the University of Nigeria Nsukka as sample for the study. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire titled: "Skill Needs of Computer Education Students in Cyber Insecurity and Unethical Hacking Questionnaire” (SNCIUHQ). Three experts validated the instrument and have an overall reliability index of .94. Mean and standard deviation were statistics used for data analysis. The result of this study identified four major skills needed for combating cyber insecurity and unethical hacking to include networking and system administration skills, knowledge of operating systems and virtual machines, networking security controls and coding skills. The strategies for the effective prevention of cyber insecurity and unethical hacking were also identified. It was recommended that the university should consider revising and updating its computer education curriculum to include specialized courses and modules focused on cybersecurity and ethical hacking among others.

Awareness and Utilization of Blockchain Technology in Managing Students' Records in Federal Universities in Enugu State, Nigeria

Abstract
The study investigated the awareness and utilization of blockchain technology in managing students' records in federal universities in Enugu state, Nigeria. Four research questions guided the study. The population for the study was 4 respondents from verification record unit, University of Nigeria Nsukka. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The instrument for data collection was an adapted structured questionnaire. The data collected for the study was analysed using mean and standard deviation. Findings from the study revealed that majority of staff in the records unit have low level of awareness of blockchain technology in managing students' records in federal universities in Enugu state, Nigeria; as well have very low utilization of blockchain technology for effective service delivery in federal universities in Enugu state, Nigeria. It was therefore recommended among others that advocacy on the awareness of blockchain technology in managing students' records should be intensified through workshops, seminars, and symposium in federal universities in Enugu state, Nigeria.

Influence of Information and Communication Technology on Academic Performance of Secondary School Students in Enugu Education Zone of Enugu State

Abstract
The research investigated the influence of Information and Communication Technology on Academic Performance of Secondary School Students in Enugu Education Zone of Enugu State. To direct the investigation, three distinct objectives and three related research questions were posed. A structured questionnaire was the tool utilized to gather data. Mean statistics and standard deviation were employed to assess the gathered data. Three hundred students from secondary schools in the Enugu Education Zone made up the study's population. Three hundred students were chosen at random from a total of 156,800 secondary school students in the Enugu State Education zone and sampled using the simple random sampling approach of balloting without replacement. Three experts: two from the Directorate of Professional Diploma in Education and one from the Department of Computer Education validated the instrument. Test-retest reliability was established, and Cronbach Alpha was used to correlate scores. Reliability Co-efficient of 0.89 was attained. The results showed that secondary school students in Enugu Education Zone performed better academically when using the internet, computer-aided education, and Zoom as instructional aids. Based on the Findings, the study recommended based on guidelines set forth by the National Policy on Education, the government should purchase the ICT infrastructure that schools require. By doing this, teachers and students will be capable to fully utilize the continual advancement in technology and the contribution of ICT to education.
